Best Asian Fine Dining Restaurant in Chandigarh

My fiancée and I visited “Hibachi” for dinner. It is situated inside Hotel Icon in Sector 8 and serves different cuisines including Thai, Chinese, Indonesian, Sichuan, Cantonese, and Japanese. The food is exquisite and the service is topnotch.

The restaurant has a great ambiance with proper lighting that matches the ethos of the cuisines served. Since the restaurant serves Pan-Asian food, the ambiance has a greater sense of connecting with the food, thus taking the experience several notches higher!

Good music for the ears, the right colour combinations for the eyes and furniture in good material for the touch makes this restaurant stand out among the rest. Every table is cleared as soon as the customers finish their meals and leave. The restaurant looks spick and span at all times.

The only problem I experienced was the lack of space between two of us when we sat on the couch. Our hands and elbows constantly keep hitting each other when we were eating. Since we are loyal customers, we would remember this on our future visits and sit on chairs.

Waiter Service | Friendly Staff | Hibachi Restaurant

The service at Hibachi Restaurant has been phenomenal every single time. On our previous visit, when the waiter Mr Sanjay was placing the plates on the table, he noticed one of the plates was dirty, so he immediately took it off and replaced with a cleaner plate. Many a time in the past at other restaurants, I noticed waiters using tissue paper or a cloth to clean the plate instantly in front of the customer and then placing it back on the table. So Mr Sanjay definitely won some brownie points by doing the right thing.

Before coming to the restaurant, we called someone and informed that it would take 10 minutes for us to arrive and also requested to take our order for starters and soups. The staff was kind enough to take the order. I am sure this was possible only because we called at 10:30 pm and the last order was at 11:00 pm.

After dinner, we had some leftovers from our main course and Mr Sanjay was happy to pack a doggie bag for us.

On every visit to Hibachi, we have ordered drinks and asked for Chilli Peanuts as they are fantastic accompaniments. On pur previous visit, we did not order drinks but the staff was happy to serve some upon our request.

Hibachi’s Signature Salad – Farm Fresh Chinese Cabbage, Lollo Rosso, Red Cabbage, Lettuce, Japanese Mayo and Mustard Sauce Dressing

My rating for this dish – 3.5/5

I love iceberg lettuce because it is fresh and crunchy. I like all the vegetables that are added to this salad. My fiancé felt the salad was a bit bland because it was too saucy and less flavorsome. On the contrary, I liked the salad because this is how I make my salads at home. The vegetables were really fresh. So, if you are someone who is health conscious, you could order this.

Malay Laska – Malaysian Spicy Noodle Soup with Coconut Milk and Laksa Paste

This soup is by far our most favourite dish. It is so delicious and thick that it could also be eaten with Jasmine rice. Every time we visit Hibachi, we make it a point to eat this dish. Am sure the regular waiters could recognise us and order it themselves.

Tom Kha – A Thai Soup with Coconut Milk flavoured with Galangal

My rating for this dish is 4.5/5

This soup will be a bit thick because of the coconut milk. Vegetables were added besides the Galangal that makes the soup flavorsome.

The difference in taste between Galangal (part of the Ginger family) and Ginger:

Galangal has a sharp citrusy, almost piney flavor  | Ginger is fresh, pungently spicy, and barely sweet
